Good morning.
As a staff, we have decided that during this term the children may be given a piece of Home Learning to complete over a week. This will not be every week and will mainly be from the maths teacher, as and when they see appropriate.
There are two reasons we have decided to do this.
The first is in preparation for Year 4. In Year 4 the children are given one piece of Home Learning weekly – these alternate between Maths and English. We want the children (and you!) to get used to the expectations of Year 4.
The second is in light of the new, higher expectations of the National Curriculum. Whilst we very much appreciate your continued support with times tables, we feel that during the Summer Term the children need to consolidate more of their learning at home. The new style of tests that are administered to the children are very challenging and we want the children to be as prepared for them as possible.
Therefore, please endeavour to support your child with the occasional piece of Home Learning. These will be given out on a Friday to be in the following Thursday.
